For more than 170 years, Te Aute College has stood as a place of learning, leadership, faith, and opportunity for Māori young men. Our rich history provides a strong foundation, but our focus is firmly on the future.
At Te Aute, our vision is to grow fine young men who thrive in te ao matatini — a complex and ever-changing world. We believe that success comes from being grounded in who you are while having the confidence, skills, and resilience to navigate the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.
Our role is to nurture young men who are proud of their identity, strong in their values, and committed to making a positive contribution to their whānau, hapū, iwi, communities, and the wider world. Through academic excellence, cultural strength, leadership development, sporting participation, and service to others, we create opportunities for every student to discover their potential and pursue their aspirations.
As a Māori Anglican boarding school, our special character sits at the heart of all we do. We strive to provide an environment where our rangatahi are able to be naturally Māori, develop a strong sense of belonging, and grow into confident, capable leaders who walk with integrity, humility, and purpose.
The strength of Te Aute lies not only in our history, but in our people — our students, staff, whānau, alumni, and wider community who share a commitment to seeing Māori young men succeed.
We invite you to become part of the Te Aute whānau and join us as we continue to shape the next generation of leaders.
